KEYNOTE SPEAKER: DR. BRIAN RAY

Brian D. Ray, Ph.D. and others founded the National Home Education Research Institute (NHERI) in 1990 as a 501(c)3 non-profit research organization, and is the president of the institute. NHERI conducts and collects research about homeschooling (home-based education, home schooling), and publishes the research journal called the Home School Researcher. The institute has hundreds of research works documented and catalogued on home schooling, many of which were done by NHERI.

 

Dr. Ray holds his Ph.D. in science education from Oregon State University, his M.S. in zoology from Ohio University, and his B.S. in biology from the University of Puget Sound. He is a leading international expert with regard to homeschool (home school, home education) research. Dr. Ray executes and publishes research, speaks to the public, testifies before legislators, and serves as an expert witness in courts.

SPEAKER/HOST: DR. LISA DUNNE
 

Dr. Lisa Dunne is an industry disruptor in the field of education. In addition to founding Chula Vista Christian University, she has launched 32 national K to 12 homeschool academies that are dedicated to rescuing the next generation from the toxic traits of traditional education. She is a dynamic, award-winning educator, author, and speaker with 25 years of classroom experience.

 

She holds a Ph.D. in human development from Fielding Graduate University, a Master's degree in communication studies from Regent University, a Master’s degree in human and organizational systems from Fielding Graduate University, and undergraduate degrees and minors in humanities, secondary education, and musical theater from Thomas Edison State College and Miami-Dade College.

Dr. Dunne is passionate about the transformative power of Christian education, the primacy of the local church, and the stable family as the cornerstone of healthy culture. She is an expert in Gen Z educational methodology and psychosocial development, and she enjoys facilitating local church and community workshops to help parents, teachers, and faith-based institutions better equip the next generation for academic success, relational resilience, and career readiness.

SPEAKER: NATHAN PIERCE
 

Nathan Pierce began working at Family Protection Ministries (FPM) in 2002 and currently serves as the Executive Director. He has over 20 years of experience doing advocacy work at the State Capitol. His role at FPM includes screening the hundreds of bills that pour into the California Legislature each year, closely watching for any that could harm our freedoms as parents, and alerting parents to contact their legislators. He works behind the scenes at the State Capitol, meeting with legislators and staff as well as testifying in committees to advocate on behalf of homeschoolers. Nathan values the importance of evaluating all things from an intentionally biblical worldview and works every day to maintain our freedom to do so.

SPEAKER: PROFESSOR CHICO JONES
 

Professor Chico Jones is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and has an M.A. in Philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary. He has taught Math, Christian Apologetics, Philosophy, Logic, and World Religions for over a decade. He also hosts a philosophy YouTube channel that focuses on logic, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion.

 

Prior to teaching, Professor Chico was a KC-10 Extender pilot in the US Air Force and flew in Operation Enduring Freedom. He has volunteered with youth ministry for many years at his home church, the Shoreline Church of San Clemente, taking students on mission trips to the Dominican Republic and Skid Row in Los Angeles.

 

He and his wife Mariah have three children and live in San Clemente, where he and his family love to surf as much as possible. Professor Chico teaches CVCU's Algebra and Logic class, helping students unravel the mysteries of the ordered world of mathematics to discover practical, everyday applications of math in each career field.

JASON WHITE

 

Professor Jason White is a dynamic, award-winning trainer, coach, and speaker with over a decade of performance breakthrough experience serving students, athletes, and entrepreneurs. Professor White completed his Master’s degree at Concordia-St. Paul where he was recognized as the All Purpose Yards Leader, and then earned a Ministry and Theology degree.

In this special afternoon session, interested parents will be invited to a roundtable discussion with some of our CVCU professors to learn more about CVCU's mentor-driven methodology. Join us for this special opportunity to learn more about CVCU's four-year degree programs in engineering, computer science, psychology, political science, pre-medicine, communications, entrepreneurship, and more.
