ALEX CERVANTES

Chief Financial Officer

 

Alex brings a wealth of experience and a spirit of excellence to his work at CVCU. Alex has served as an accountant in Chula Vista for over 10 years. He is the owner of HDW Tax Services and is committed to supporting Chula Vistans with excellence in accounting and tax preparation.

 

Alex and his wife, Dulce, live in Chula Vista with their two GenZ daughters, Candy and Destiny, where they are active members of Awaken Church Eastlake. Alex is passionate about seeing marketplace professionals develop strong financial portfolios.

DEANNA GODINES

Administrative Assistant

Deanna joins us with 20 years experience in the Christian school environment and has experience with homeschooling. Deanna passionately and excitingly served in  Children’s Ministry weekly for 20 years. She has been an art instructor, PE teacher, Christian school administrative assistant and substitute teacher. 

Deanna is married to her best friend, Gabriel and they have been sweethearts for 31 years.  Motherhood and raising their 4 (now adult) children has held the highest priority. In raising them she learned the importance of honoring each individual and how unique God has made each of us with gifts and talents all our own.

CHRIS BROWN

Director of Athletics​

Coach Brown is an Internationally recognized rugby coach known for bringing diverse populations together, shifting mindsets, and building culture and performance strategies that achieve exponential results. He is also a business coach, life coach and speaker. Chris was born and raised in New Zealand before moving to South Africa in his early 20s.

 

After completing various coaching assignments across Africa, Chris and his wife Thelma relocated to California to coach the US Olympic team. They now live in San Diego and have three beautiful daughters, Kianna, Alisa and Millicent. Chris is passionate about helping people uncover their gifts and shifting how people see themselves and the world they live in.

SARAH LOPEZ

Project Manager

Sarah Lopez is on a mission to make an impact on the next generation by educating them on how to become thinkers led by their spiritual convictions, physical truth, and self awareness. In addition to hosting Bible studies and facilitating events at her business, Harvest Collective, she teaches apologetics and life skills in her homeschool cooperative. Sarah holds a masters degree in social work administration with a concentration in aging and health. She has worked with the Sacramento County Probation Department, juvenile hall, and drug court, as well as the Sacramento children’s home as a residential counselor. She was a research study coordinator for the Center on Healthy Aging at UC San Diego. Sarah and her husband Daniel have four children and serve together at their local church, Awaken Eastlake.

KYLE HERMANN

University Support Specialist

Kyle was born and raised in East County, where he was active in both extracurricular activities and  his home church, Skyline, all the way through college. Kyle graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History from PLNU and went on to complete his Master's degree in Political Science at Liberty University. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. Kyle is passionate about learning from the past as well as leading others to do the same. As a senior in college, he ran for office, and he currently serves as secretary of the Valle de Oro Community Planning Group. As one of the youngest elected officials in San Diego County, Kyle hopes to inspire others to be civically engaged and to take steps to become courageous and just leaders in their realm of influence.
