Prof. Wendy Gibbs

General Psychology

Professor Wendy Gibbs is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and founder of LiveWell Gainesville private therapy practice in Gainesville, Florida. She holds a Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism from the University of Florida.

Professor Gibbs has extensive experience working in the field of mental health care working as a victim advocate therapist in coordination with law enforcement, human trafficking restoration programs, and with veteran care-giver organizations, as well as a provider in a large psychiatry practice. She is an EMDR-trained therapist with the passion to care for patients who are the survivors or witnesses of sexual, physical, and emotional abuse. She has been additionally trained in trauma response care through the Florida Council Against Sexual Violence and teaches the continuing education course for licensed professionals entitled Recognizing and Treating the Symptoms of Traumatization and Sexual Violence. 

Prior to her graduate work, Professor Gibbs served as a high school advisor and certified Advanced Placement English teacher, as well as an editor and ghost writer. She has collaborated on more than 27 published manuscripts.

Professor Gibbs enjoys kayaking the beautiful water features of Florida with her husband of 21 years and two children, 20 and 17 years of age. She and her family lead a weekly prayer service at her local church.

Professor Gibbs believes mentorship is the undervalued key to empowerment and she hopes to contribute to the restoration of family through her course at CVCU.
