PROFESSOR
CHICO JONES

CVCU PROFESSOR

CVCU's SIGNATURE SOCRATIC METHOD

Why does CVCU use what we call our “signature Socratic method” of education? How is induction different from deduction, and which educational method teaches students not just want to think, but how to think? If you’d like to understand more about inquiry based learning, both in the college format, and in your homeschool program, join Professor Chico Jones and a panel of students as they talk about the benefits of this methodology.

Professor Chico Jones is a graduate of the US Air Force Academy and has an M.A. in Philosophy from Southern Evangelical Seminary. He has taught Math, Christian Apologetics, Philosophy, Logic, and World Religions for over a decade. He also hosts a philosophy YouTube channel that focuses on logic, metaphysics, and philosophy of religion.

TANYA WILLIAMS
PRINCIPLE APPROACH EXPERT

THE PRINCIPLE APPROACH CURRICULUM

Tanya and her husband George met while serving in the military and now pastor Relentless Church San Diego. In the US Navy, Tanya worked 10 years as a chef and instructor, training almost 4000 culinary students and motivating them toward self-improvement. That same passion for education and her love for children inspired her to pursue a career in teaching. She earned a degree in social work and child development from Point Loma Nazarene University, and then went on to spend 30 years in education and curriculum development.  As she witnessed the decline in education, she felt the leading of God to open a biblically sound Christian school, Courage Christian Academy. She discovered The Principle Approach and then spent several months under the tutelage of PA teaching director Dr. Max Lyons. She is currently in her final season of training as a Principle Approach master teacher. In this session, Tanya will train parents in the use of the Principle Approach, its solid biblical foundation, and its critical-thinking focused methodology. Tanya and George have been married for 33 years and have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.
