Professor Brian Reiswig

Professor Brian Reiswig

Professor Reiswig holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Bethel Seminary and a BA in English Literature from UCSD. He is currently pursuing his Ph.D. in Psychology at Liberty University. He is a member of the International Institute for Trauma and Addiction Professionals and a Board-licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and has served as a guest lecturer at Bethel Seminary, Azusa Pacific University, and Teen Mania’s Honor Academy.

Professor Reiswig finds encouragement in CVCU’s relationship-based, real-world focused approach to higher education. In his graduate school work, he experienced the brokenness of the traditional education system: “What I saw as a student teacher deepened my belief that America’s schools are producing deeply wounded graduates. Students are treated as behavioral challenges to be managed instead of children of God with intrinsic goodness and potential.”

Professor Reiswig hopes to challenge CVCU students with an exposure to the numerous voices of the field, giving them an opportunity to wrestle with the world and their faith in an environment of connection and faith integration. “I am convinced that the cognitive development of the student will not likely exceed the safe attachment that student has access to,” he says. “Relationship and identity must be as important as subject matter.”

Professor Reiswig’s additional field interests include Attachment Theory and Attachment-based Therapy, Addiction, the Psychology of Eating Disorders, and the Psychology of Personality. He and his wife Sarah lead the marriage ministry at Restoration Church, where he is also an elder.
